Child Sponsorship
WIND’s Child Sponsorship Programs were inspired in 2018 when confronted with a simple statistic.
Only 18% of girls in the region that started the 1st Grade would go on to graduate the 9th grade.
21 girls were beginning the first grade that year and of those 21, that meant statistically ONLY 4 would graduate. The 21 Girls Program started that year to encourage the girls to stay in school through the 9th grade.
Since then, every incoming class of 1st grade girls have been matched with sponsors. But there are more children than we have sponsors so we need your help!
The El Camino Program was created a few years later to equip boys with the character traits needed to create positive change in their school, family, and community.
El Camino is translated “The Path” or “The Way.” Our desire is to guide boys on the pathway of life and help them to become difference makers.
We believe that creating a strong character foundation for these boys will pave the way for them to flourish as adults.
Many boys still need sponsors, will you walk with one?
What you need to know
A sponsor’s $39 tax deductible monthly donation enables one child to stay in school.
Sponsors are connected with one specific child. You will receive a photo of your student, and you are encouraged to pray, send birthday cards and letters, and even visit them in Cotzal!
Sponsored children do not receive direct cash benefits. Your donation helps to support their education and maximize the work at Colegio Horeb, paying teachers’ salaries, providing teaching material, and renting classroom space.
